🍊 Festival Fever in Alanya, the Capital of Tropical Fruits
Held behind the Old Municipality Building, the three-day festival attracted large crowds from the very first day. Its purpose is to support Alanya’s agriculture, encourage tropical fruit production, and promote these products on an international scale.
From avocados and mangos to papayas, dragon fruit, and carob — dozens of tropical varieties grown in Alanya’s fertile soil are reaching tables across the world. 🌿
The opening ceremony was attended by Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk, CHP Antalya Deputy Cavit Arı, ALTSO President Eray Erdem, Deputy Mayor Haydar Uyar, and many other distinguished guests. Local producers, women’s cooperatives, and renowned chefs brought color and flavor to the event.

Chairman of the Alanya Chamber of Agriculture, Tahir Göktepe, highlighted the city’s success in tropical production, saying:
“Alanya leads Turkey in tropical fruit cultivation. We have already applied for a geographical indication for the Alanya Mango. This festival is an important step in introducing our farmers’ efforts to the world.”

One of the festival’s most anticipated traditions, the ‘Heaviest Alanya Avocado Contest’, brought thrilling competition.
With her 633-gram avocado, Ferhan Türkyılmaz claimed first place — once again proving why Alanya’s “green gold” is a symbol of abundance and agricultural strength.

Deputy Mayor Haydar Uyar emphasized the economic impact of tropical fruits on the region, saying:
“It all began with avocados and bananas, but today we cultivate more than 40 tropical varieties. These crops have become the new face of Alanya’s economy. With well-planned agricultural strategies, this prosperity will continue to grow.”
